Autumn Rain is a triangular, top-down lace beaded shawl. It starts with just a few stitches at the top middle of the triangle and grows as the triangle gets larger.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate.
The pattern includes charts and pattern instructions; row-by-row written instructions are not included.
The charts show only the right-side rows. On the wrong-side rows, all stitches are purled except for the edge stitches.

SIZE IS ADJUSTABLE: the body of the shawl may be shortened by omitting a few rows, and the shawl border may be increased by working some extra rows of the Border Chart.
Besides, these options may be put together allowing you to choose one of four design options as desired:
A. Medium size (168 rows in total);
B. Medium size + increased border (176 rows in total);
C. Small size (144 rows in total);
D. Small size + increased border (152 rows in total).
Apart from that, your shawl may end up being larger or smaller depending on yarn weight and your individual manner of knitting.

It is recommended to use natural fiber yarns (acrylic yarns don’t block very well). Most natural fibers, such as cotton, linen, wool, and alpaca, benefit greatly from blocking.
Lace weight yarn is preferable, approximately 400 – 800 m 435–875 yds per 100 g skein.
Also, you may need to adjust the needle size if using a different weight yarn.

Two options are available for the bind off:

  1. Needle Stretchy Bind Off Method
  2. Crochet Bind Off

MATERIALS USED:
 Size 3.25 mm US 3 circular needles (Circular needles are preferred over straight ones because they can hold a large number of stitches.);
 Size 3.5 mm US 4 circular needles for a looser bound-off edge (Use size 2.0 mm crochet hook to knit the single crochet bind off.);
 Size 0.5 mm crochet hook for beading;
 Size 8/0 Toho™ seed beads; 672 pcs;
 Stitch markers, tapestry needle, and waste yarn for provisional cast on (optional);
 T-pins and a large piece of cardboard or foam for blocking.

YARN USED: The sample shown (Design A) was knitted with Limageda Linas 600 (100% linen; 600 m 656 yds per 100 g).
The sample shown used 486 m 532 yds, or 81 grams of yarn.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: 200 cm 79″ wingspan and 100 cm 39″ deep, relaxed after wet blocking.
