Autumnus
Autumnus is an overlay mosaic crochet pattern created as an “ode to Autumn” but can be modified to fit any season! Included in the pattern are some ideas for a Spring, Summer, and Winter themed blanket. This pattern has no specific repeat, meaning there are endless combination and size possibilities! Included in the pattern are 6 sizing options and basic instructions for each.
This is a beginner level pattern but DOES NOT include a tutorial on how to do mosaic crochet. It does include a photo tutorial on creating a basic envelope border.
The PDF pattern is written in U.S. terminology and includes the full written pattern in a row-by-row format, as well as the ticked graphs. The written format is in a new, easier to read format! Also included is a printer-friendly PDF that allows you to print only the necessities for the pattern.
I chose to make mine with a 4 mm hook and worsted weight (4 weight) yarn. The yarn I used is on the lighter side of a 4-weight yarn; I recommend a 5 mm hook with worsted weight yarn typically. The border was made with a 3.5 mm hook. I chose the small throw size.
Yarn specifics: Cascade 220
Chocolate Heather (#2431)
Shire (#2445)
Birch Heather (#9564)
Japanese Maple (#2435)
Red Wine Heather (#9489)
Antiqued Heather (#9600).
I used a total of approximately 3,800 yards, excluding the border The border used approximately 600 yards (for a total of 4400 yards). The size is approximately 46” wide by 61” tall excluding the border. The estimated yarn usage per pattern repeat is listed under their corresponding graph. Please note that different yarns, different tensions, and different hook sizes will all utilize a different amount of yarn.
