About this design
For me this design is about both comfort and beauty. It knits up very fast, as you want to see the meandering textured lace develop in front of your eyes. And then you pull them on and never want to take them off because of how nicely they fit.

The socks are knit cuff-down in the round, with a classic heel flap (with 2 various print options), heel turn and gusset. Lace and texture print goes over the whole leg and on the instep. The toe are worked in twisted rib AND have anatomic fit, following the curve of the toes much better than the classic toe.

As I was searching for a fitting name for this design, one of my testers knit her pair in avocado-green yarn, and it was such a perfect match with the print, that it just clicked!

Sizes
The pattern includes two sizes (most common teen/adult female shoe sizes):
Size 1: EUR 37.5-39 / US 6.5-8 (foot length 23.5-24.5 cm / 9.5-10”)
Size 2: EUR 39.5-41 / US 8.5-10 (foot length 25-26.5 cm / 10-10.5”)

Yarn
Any classic sock yarn (fingering weight ~400-420m/435-460yds per 100g/3.5oz)
You will need a total of ~70 (80) g/2.5 (2.8) oz for a pair.

It looks great in pretty much any color or dye method, including speckled, sparkly, tweedy, gradient or self-striping yarns (I would only discourage you from using heavily variegated, as that would ‘muddy’ the print).

Needles
I’ve knit all my samples using 5 wooden Lykke DPNs in size 2.25mm/US 1. Make sure to swatch with different size needles until you get gauge!

You can use any preferred method: magic loop, three needles, or short circulars (instructions indicate the different actions you might need to take for all these needle types).

Notions: 2-6 stitch markers (depending on your type of needles), tapestry needle, scissors

Gauge: 32 stitches х 43 rows in 10х10cm/4x4” in print after wet-blocking, slightly stretched

Techniques used

  • Elastic cast on: e.g. classic long-tail on larger needles, German Twisted/Old Norwegian cast on
  • (Half-)twisted rib
  • Knitting and purling
  • Lace with yarnovers and basic decreases: k2tog, p2tog, ssk
  • Grafting with Kitchener stitch (video-tutorial provided)
  • Reading charted instructions (optional)
