AWAYUKI is Japanese, translating roughly to “light snow”. The beautiful, drifting cable pattern I have chosen for this beanie has always reminded me of fallen snow that has been gently moved about by the wind. Delightful texture and dimension created by the cables add a unique spin to this classic hat style. The pattern is just simple enough to highlight delicious semi-solid hand dyed yarns, and just interesting enough to spice up solids.

AWAYUKI is sized from newborn to large adult, and is knit bottom-up, in the round. It is very simple, and reasonably quick to work up.

Please note: the yardage recommendations do not include yarn used for the pompom. You may need more or less than I recommend, depending on how you like your pompoms. Due to generous yardage, one 100g ball of White Gum Wool is enough for the large adult size, including pompom.
