AYLENE SOCKS

Aylene socks are your everyday socks combining the perfect blend of elegance and functionality. The socks are worked in a beautiful and delicate lace pattern. This lace pattern is a variation of a Japanese lace pattern that can be found in Hitomi Shida’s Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible book. It looks more complicated than it actually is!

KEY INFORMATION

Sizes: S/M, (M/L)

Measurements: Foot circumference: 20-22 cm, (22-24 cm) / 8, (9) inches. Length is adjustable.

Gauge: 30 sts x 41 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches) after blocking.

Suggested needles: 2.50 mm circular or double pointed needles (US 1.5). Remember this is just a recommendation; please knit a gauge swatch first. Please also note that lace knitting is slightly more stretchable than the regular stockinette stitch.

Materials: 250-300 m / 275-350 yards of fingering weight sock yarn. Sample on photo is knitted with Lang Yarns Jawoll colour way 339.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES

Aylene Socks are knitted top down and seamlessly. First you knit the edge ribbing and continue knitting the leg using the lace pattern chart found on the last page. Then shape the heel with German short rows. The foot is again knitted using the pattern chart for the instep and stockinette stitch for the sole. Finish the socks by shaping the toes. Please note there is a little difference between sizes S/M and M/L.
