Lovely Aztec designs inspired this mosaic lap blanket.

US terminology is used and the method is Overlay Mosaic Crochet. Most of the patterns are either 12 or 24 stitch repeats so very compatible with other mosaic patterns. This allows a bit of mix and match with other patterns you might have or to use to extend the size of your blanket.

The pattern contains written instructions and charts (marked with Xs). There are some photos to help with the border.

There are 9 pattern designs plus the border pattern.

DK (8ply) yarn is used in the sample and it measures 44” x 34 1/2” (112 x 88cm). Any yarn can be used. Of course, the size will vary depending on yarn used, your tension and hook size.

When choosing colours, it is important to choose contrasting colours so the pattern stands out. The pictured blanket has 9 different colours.

If you have not done mosaic overlay crochet before there are a number of videos on YouTube for beginners to this style of crochet. You will be surprised at how easy it is just using SC and DC stitches to create a beautiful blanket!
