A modern combo of a basic lace Bandana, a trendy mesh Durag and a vintage ‘Babushka’ head scarf is a perfect Bad Hair Day Hat!
With the same product, you can create several looks just by tying the straps in different ways:

• cross the straps under your chin and tie them in a knot at the nape of your neck under or over the scarf cloth;
• shorter straps are suitable for the vintage ‘Babushka’ scarf (where the kerchief is tied in a knot under the chin or at the back of the head under long hair), as well as for a headwrap that is tied at the back of the head over the crocheted piece (similar to a Durag).

SIZING: YOUTH / ADULT (matter of GAUGE).
GAUGE (density of crochet) per 4’’ (10 cm):

• 20-21 stitches for YOUTH size up to 21.7’’ (55 cm),
• 18-19 stitches for larger ADULT sizes.

Head circumference of the dummy is 21.7’’ (55 cm) – Teen / Small Adult size; the gauge 20 stitches / 4’’ (10 cm) is applied.

Crochet skill level: EASY / PRE-INTERMEDIATE.

You should know how to crochet Basic stitches:

• chain stitch (ch);
• double crochet (dc);
• extended double crochet (edc);
• Increase / Decrease.

You will need up to 170 yds (155 m) of any Fine or Light yarn (US weight category 2 or 3) containing NOT LESS than 218 yds per 3.5 oz (200 m / 100 g) to reach the correct GAUGE.

HOOK US G-6 (4.0 mm) and about 2/3 skein of BERNAT Softee Baby yarn (60% Cotton, 40% Acrylic) used to crochet the item in the pictures:
1 skein = 254 yds / 4.2 oz (232 m / 120 g).
