This is a bottom-up pullover sweater with raglan sleeves and a shawl collar, inspired by Jared Flood’s beautiful Brownstone, but sized for babies and toddlers.

A note about the gauge: no, 28 stitches to 4 inches is not a mistake. I wanted a tight-knit sweater that would stand up to weather and the uninsulated, unheated, damp houses where I live. Knit and block a swatch with the wool you’d like to use and see if you’re happy with the result (you’re doing this to check your gauge anyway, right?) If you want a lighter sweater, and you feel adventurous, by all means, experiment with a sport or fingering weight wool. And please drop me a note! If you take some nice pictures I’d be happy to feature your creation on the pattern page.

The smaller version was knitted with Prism Symphony, which is a worsted weight yarn. It was knitted at the same tight gauge.
