My baby niece has an elephant-themed nursery, so I have been going a bit mad with crocheting elephants. ♥ So when I went looking for an elephant-themed way to embellish a light fleece baby blanket, I took to YouTube and it did not disappoint! I found quite literally dozens to choose from, each with its own variations, in several different languages… but I finally settled on one that most closely resembled what I wanted for my own project. I did still end up making several changes to the instructions, though, to create something I felt worked out better for me. This pattern is simply a written version of the pattern from that video, incorporating my own changes. I take no credit for the original creation of this clever pattern!

Pattern includes two versions:

for crocheting directly onto fabric’s edge (as in video)
for stand-alone trim tape for sewing to fabric later (my own variation)
Gauge will vary depending on materials chosen.
