This cute little outfit will be the right size for a baby from about 3 to 12 months. However, it could easily be adapted for a bigger baby by adding extra rows to the middle of the body. It is designed to be a very loose outfit, very round like a pumpkin and able to fit quite a wide range of sizes. For a younger or smaller baby, the outfit may be very loose and wearing an orange t-shirt underneath may be necessary. It could even fit the baby a year later as it is designed with lots of room for growth. The hat could also be made a bit bigger by doing an extra increase row. I give details of how to do these extra rows within the pattern. The booties are quite big as they are pumpkin shaped and I think would fit a child up to 12 months. However, they would not be safe for a child that is walking..

The pumpkin is made with chunky/bulky yarn, which gives it a certain amount of body, making it hold its pumpkin shape better. The green trimmings are made with double knit yarn. Any yarn could be used, so long as it is the correct weight, but I used King Cole Value Yarn for the orange part and Stylecraft Special for the double knit.

There are detailed instructions of how to make the outfit, with some photographs. You could make just the hat or the booties or the whole ensemble.

The pattern includes both UK and US terms. The UK terms come first and then the whole pattern is repeated with US terms, so please be aware if you print off the pattern that you should only print the pages you want so as not to waste your paper and ink.
