A set of double-pointed knitting needles in size 6 (4 mm) or a circular needle of the same size (to knit as magic loop).

Cast on 60 stitches in blue either as 3 x 20 stitches or as 4 x 15 stitches on 3 or 4 needles according to your preference. Knit in rounds.
Rows 1-3: Knit 2, purl 2, repeat all around
Row 4: Knit in blue
Rows 5 and 6: Knit 2 in white, 2 in blue, repeat around
Rows 7 and 8: Knit in blue
Rows 9 and 10: Knit 2 in blue, 2 in white, repeat around
Rows 11-13: Knit in blue
Rows 14-15; Knit in white
Rows 16-17: Knit in red
Rows 18-19: Knit in white
Rows 20-21: Knit in red
