A luxurious top down baby coat with deep, lush, silky cuffs and collar, and big bold buttons reminiscent of vintage Audrey Hepburn and Jackie “O” fashion icons. The short crop length and generous ease makes it perfect to go over those classic gathered, full skirted, empire waist dresses - or let your little one go a bit more “hip” with a tunic and jeans underneath.

Sizing notes: Model in first 2 pictures is almost 3yrears old, wearing the 24 month size and has a 19” chest (5” positive ease). She is pretty thin & tall for her age. The next 4 pictures she also had around a 19” chest, but almost a year younger. It was a little large for her, but she loved it and wore it anyway! I do recommend 3-4” positive ease for this coat to allow for other layers of clothing to fit easily underneath. For an additional fit trick which can be used on this pattern check out the post on my blog: An Elastic Trick for Better Fit

Difficulty: Intermediate

Familiar top down raglan construction is finished with picked up cuff and collar sections knit longer, folded, and hemmed to the inside of the sweater. No seaming, just hemming, darning, and sewing on buttons! Instructions include photo tutorials and details for all of the intermediate techniques. Familiarity with basic increases and decreases, picking up stitches, short row techniques, and one-row buttonholes will be helpful.

Gauge and Yardage given above is for the bulky yarn only. You will need between 220 and 250 yards of the silky dk weight yarn as well.
