Need a fast baby gift for the newest member of a family? These mittens and hat are the perfect gift for the expecting parents. This set is lightweight enough to keep baby snuggly warm in most seasons. The hats and mitts are all knit in the same method, so once you have knit one piece, the other 2 are a snap!

A special thanks goes out to Karalyn Rainey who is my mentor for all things machine knit!

UPDATE 12/2021
I have finally found a newborn who’s head is too big for this hat. You may want to increase the cast on stitches to accommodate a larger head. You can increase stitches by 4 at a time to increase by a half an inch with each 4 you add.

For example - the pattern calls for cast on of 48 stitches - so you can try 52 or 56 or 60 for a larger head.
