Simple Baby Cardigan with Neck Shaping – Top Down.

The pattern has options for details which you can choose to add in or not including neck shaping, neck band, cuffs etc.

Materials
DK yarn - I used Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino, King Cole Cotton Silk Finesse and King Cole Cotton Soft with great results but any DK yarn will do.
Tension: 21 stitches, 28 rows - I wasn’t too worried about tension as the garment will fit a newborn and if slightly larger he/she will grow into it!
4mm needles and optional 3.5mm Needles for the neck
4 Stitch Markers
4 -5 Buttons

Option 1 – Roll Neck in Stockinette.
(Stockinette is where you knit one row then purl the next. Another name for this type of knitting is plain knitting.)

Option 2 – Garter Stitch Neck
(With garter stitch you just knit every row creating a textured knit.)

Option 3 – Ribbed Neck
(A rib is where you knit and purl along the row and repeat the sequence on subsequent rows to make the pattern.)

Optional neck shaping is within the pattern.
