This sweater is knit from the top down with just one seam at the top of the hood. The body is worked flat; the sleeves are worked in the round. Stitches are picked up along each side edge and around the hood to work the mosaic button band. The mosaic band is created by using the mosaic technique, which means you only use one color per row and slip the other.
Stitches are slipped with yarn in the back on RS rows, and on WS rows, the stitches are slipped with the yarn in front.

Sizes: 6 mos. (9 mos., 12 mos.)
To fit chest circumference: 17 (17.5, 18) inches or 43 (44.5, 45.5) cm
Finished garment (buttoned) chest circumference: 20.5 (21.5, 23) inches or 52 (54.5, 58.5) cm
Total sleeve length (from underarm) 6 (6.5, 7.5) inches or 15 (16.5, 19) cm.

Yarn Requirements:
MC: 327 (382, 436) yds or 300 (350, 400) m DK weight yarn
CC: 44 (44, 48) yds or 40 (40, 44) m DK weight yarn
Note: I used Tahki Yarns Classic Superwash DK in the sample. I have also successfully used Cloudborn Fibers Superwash DK. You may substitute any yarn of a similar weight, just be sure to check your gauge to make sure you have enough yarn to complete your sweater.

Needles:
29-inch US 5 (3.75mm) circular needles and set of double pointed needles
32-inch US 6 (4mm) circular needles and set of double pointed needles

Notions:
4 stitch markers and 4 locking stitch markers (or pieces of scrap yarn)
tapestry needle
2 stitch holders (or pieces of scrap yarn)
4 3/4 inch buttons or 1 inch toggle buttons

Gauge:
21 sts and 28 rows/rounds = 4 inches or 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch using larger needles after blocking

Skills Required: Standard Bind-off, knitting, purling, working in the round, working flat, increasing, decreasing, picking up stitches, Cable Cast-on, Backward Loop Cast-on, seaming, Long Tail Cast-on.
