This is a very basic pattern to start making toe-up socks with a minimum of “fiddlyness” to get started. The specific pattern is written for baby/ toddler size, and instructions are given for up-sizing to child/adult.

The newborn/ baby size is knit in fingering yarn on size 2.25mm needles. It takes about 15 grams of yarn, so is great for little bits and bobs of left overs.
The Toddler sock is done with Sport weight yarn on size 3.0mm needles. A pair of Toddler socks takes about 30 grams of yarn.
Instructions for Adult size are for fingering, but the instructions are general enough to include Sport.
