From the book:

This little pull-on hat is very quick and easy to knit. If you knit it in the same chunky cotton yarn as the cardigan it makes an attractive outfit for the baby. The simple roll-edged brim allows you to adjust the size to fit the baby’s head, and the stocking (stockinette) stitch and simple shaping are very easy to work. The hat is knitted on two needles, with a back seam.
