Baby’s First Lace Socks
The pattern is based on a specific gauge.
Gauge in the round, after blocking: 10 cm = 24 stitches / 4 in = 24 stitches
Skill level: Intermediate
Sizes and recommendations: This pattern is available in three sizes. Please choose the size based on the baby’s leg circumference, as the foot length can be adjusted. See the size chart below.
Recommended yarn: Drops Merino Extra Fine (50 g / 105 m / 115 yd) or a similar yarn with the same yardage.
Required yarn amount: ~45 g (approx. 50 yd) , depending on size.
Construction:
The socks are worked top-down, in one piece, without seams, using the magic loop technique on circular needles.
The heel is shaped using the shadow wrap heel method with short rows, followed by toe decreases. A crocheted I-cord is threaded through the socks.
Materials needed:
Circular needles that match your gauge. The sample was knit using 2.75 mm (US 2) and 3.25 mm (US 3) needles (with a cable approx. 45 cm (16–18 in) long). If you don’t have these sizes, try 3 mm (US 2.5) or 3.5 mm (US 4) needles - remember, everyone’s tension is different.
