This is my version of the messy bun hat that is so popular right now.

Materials

Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
Medium 4 Yarn (I used Yarn Bee Effervesce Yarn) about 70 grams
Scissors
Darning needle
Measuring tape
Optional:
Embroidery thread for “Bad Hair Day”
Needle for embroidering
Puff ball maker (home-made or store bought)

Gauge

6 stitches and 3.5 rows = 2 inches
