This cardigan is worked from the top down, beginning with the back panel, which is shaped with German short rows at the shoulders.
Once the underarm depth is reached, the back stitches are placed on hold. The front shoulders are then picked up one at a time and shaped with increases to form the neckline and worked to match the length of the back panel.

The front panels are joined to the back, and the body is knit flat. The sleeves will then be picked up and knit top down in the round. The button-band is added next by picking up stitches on each front panel, followed by the collar. Decorative fish are added last using the duplicate stitch technique.
