Get carried away with these six variations on a hot air balloon to use for cleaning cloths, afghan blocks and/or felted potholders. Worked in mosaic garter stitch, just one strand works every two rows while the other strand rests at the edge. Gauge and dimensions are provided in worsted weight cotton with size US 7 (4.5mm) needles. Other fibers such as linen, hemp and wool work well too. Adjust the needle size and/or yarn weight to obtain desired gauge.

Use contrasting solid colors or try semi-solid tonal yarn for one of the colors. As long as the contrasting and main colors contrast well, the pattern will reveal itself. The pattern includes both positive and negative charts (with full-written instructions) for making useful household linens and gifts!

Sample Size (Blocked):
8.5” (22 cm) Square
