Banana Pie top is a striking and breezy summer piece, constructed from a hexagon motif and its variations.

The bold geometric design, formed by the join-as-you-go motifs, creates eye-catching lines and an airy openwork pattern. The V-shaped neckline and straight, relaxed silhouette make it easy to layer over dresses, swimwear, or lightweight tops.

You can turn it into a tunic or beach cover-up by adding extra rows of motifs before the final border row. Keep in mind that the top is evenly elongated, maintaining the same circumference from chest to hem.

If you prefer a silhouette that flares out, take a look at the Mavka dress pattern, which uses expanding motifs to shape a wider, flared skirt.

Note: The Banana Pie top and Mavka dress patterns share the same construction and instructions, with the only difference being the different skirt motifs used in the dress to create its flared shape.

There’s no need to purchase both patterns:

  • If you’d like to make both the top and the dress, simply use the Mavka dress pattern.
  • If you only want to make the top and don’t need the skirt instructions, the Banana Pie top pattern is all you need!

Materials:

  • Yarn: 100% linen by Lityarn, light fingering weight (3 ply), 656yd (600m) per 100g skein, 2 skeins total for all the sizes
  • Hook: US B (2.25mm)
  • Yarn needle to sew/weave in ends

Gauge:
Only one motif layout is provided for all the sizes. Change the size of the motifs by using thinner/thicker yarn or a smaller/larger hook size to make your top smaller or larger. If between sizes, opt for the larger size to achieve a relaxed fit.

The pattern has been professionally tech edited and includes charts and written instructions.
