Barbara
Designed to compliment this year’s Advent project by Madrigal Yarns, this pretty sweater knits up surprisingly quickly in four gradient shades of merino sock yarn.
Worked from the bottom up, it’s knitted in the round to the underarm, then split for the back and front yokes. Short row shaping sculpts the shoulders, which are joined using the three needle bind off technique, then the sleeves are picked up and knitted downwards in the round to the gently gathered cuffs.
Key to the elegance of the garment is the pretty eyelet moss stitch detail, which features on all of the edgings and in an eye-catching band at the top of the sleeves.
To make it you will need 4 (4: 5: 5: 5: 5) x 100g skeins of sock weight merino yarn.
It’s a lightweight project which grows quickly because of its portability. The result a useful wardrobe staple when worked in a single solid colour, or an eye-catching statement in the lovely speckled gradient shades curated by Mr Madrigal himself!
