Bare Hill is a 865 foot tall hill at the south end of Canandaigua Lake in western New York state. Each year, on the Saturday before Labor day, a bonfire is lit at its top to commemorate the Seneca ceremony of peace and abundant harvest. Below, on the lakeshore, residents light flares around the 32-mile shore in the traditional “Ring of Fire”.

Bare Hill Cowl is a textured and mosaic color work piece designed to coordinate with Bare Hill Mittens and Bare Hill Hat. Aran weight yarns worked with US size 9 (5.5 mm) needles make the knitting quick. Worked in Garter Rib with an easy 3-color slip stitch pattern, one size should fit most, and is easily adjustable for larger or smaller sizes.

The samples shown used Quince & Co. Osprey in Bird’s Egg (145 yds), Goldfinch (55 yds), and Apricot (56 yds).
