Beaches in Nova Scotia can be a combination of warmth and coolness - sometimes you need a shawl around your shoulders while you’re walking barefoot in the sand :)

This mostly-garter shawl is knit sideways with slipped-stitch accents and either a knitted-on or plain garter border. It was designed to be knit with a gradient set of 6 plus a full skein of a contrasting colorway.

Border lace repeat is both written and charted.

Skills required:
• Increasing
• Yarn overs
• Slipped stitches
• Decreasing
• Picking up stitches in yarn over edge loops (super easy!)
• Backwards-loop cast-on
• Knitted-on cast-on for picots

Yardage details:
• Gradient set of 6 133-yard skeins
• 330 yards of a contrasting color
