Meet Barley!

Barley the Beagle dog is large and proud and stupendous! He loves to lounge on your bed, gaze out the window and get belly rubs!

My example is almost 30” from tip of tail to nose.

This PDF is 13 pages with over 10 photos.

But, although my example was made to be a beagle, you can adapt this pattern for ANY DOG. You can make a dog in virtually any color you can thing of. I even imagine this dog in RED like Clifford - you know who I mean.

This and all my patterns use US CROCHET TERMS.

You may make and sell products from my patterns, but please do me the kindness of linking back to my pattern and mentioning The Burgundy Basket with links where applicable to all the photos you put online.

I use the standard crochet stitches in my patterns. Here are my most used stitches and most of what you will find in my patterns:

Stitch Glossary:
Chain: Ch
Single Crochet: SC
Inc Sc: make two single crochet stitches in the same stitch as indicated
Invisible Decrease: inv. dec. – this is an invisible single crochet decrease
Hdc: Half double crochet
Dc: double crochet
Tr: treble crochet
Slip Stitch: sl st
FO: finish off

PLEASE READ

This pattern is for at least Intermediate to ADVANCED Amigurumi style crocheters. It is an abbreviated CHART pattern. I give you all the body parts in chart/number/round form so that your dog will end up roughly the same size. You also get all the photos in the pattern for reference.

I have now added a helpful cheat sheet with detailed instructions on how to do increases and decreases.

I do have lots of tips and tricks and show you where/what round I have everything placed.

If you have amigurumi knowledge and know how to work in the round - ex. 6,12,18,24 etc with increases and decreases you won’t have any trouble. This is probably not a beginner level pattern, although if you know how to work in the round maybe.

This is a big guy! But, with crochet you can custom this to make any color and make he a she and make a completely different dog.

I am here all to help and support you in any way I can after you download my pattern.

I would love to see your puppies made from this pattern so please tag me on IG @theburgundybasket

Materials:
-I was making a Beagle because that is what was requested, but you can make this pattern into ANY DOG and use any colors. You can make solid or different colors and make any type dog you want. For the Beagle, I used all Red Heart yarn. I used RH With Love in White, SS in Black and Brown and a scrap of pink and black for tongue and feet pads and face.
-Hook : I used a H hook for this pattern except for the tongue and ears, But, I don’t know why. I just grabbed the wrong hook and really wasn’t paying attention. You should use a G hook for amigurumi stuffed animals. Thankfully, my stitches are normally tight. You can get away with an H hook with tight stiches if you don’t overstuff, but if you use a dark color you will probably see the stuffing. If you use a G hook your stuffed dog will be a little smaller than mine. For the Ears, I used my I hook. I used my G hook for the tongue.
-Safety Eyes or buttons (or yarn to embroider if you choose) and needle to embroider face.
-Stuffing. I have used Poly-Fill brand stuffing, but feel free to use what you prefer.

Due to the nature of PDF and it being an Instant Download I cant refund your fee -which I’ve kept low - but am here to assist if you need. Please let me know if you find any errors or have any trouble.
