Welcome to the Barleycover Sweater PATTERN for babies and children to 7 years. Seamless and knit top down, Barleycove is a classic jumper design wth a colourful rib trim and a pocket for treasures. It is knit with double knitting yarn, so fairly quick to make. Unlike many top down designs, BARLEYCOVE has saddle shoulders, a great new top down skill to try.

SKILL LEVEL - advanced beginner/intermediate

SIZING:
6 sizes to fit chest size 16” (18”, 20”, 22”, 24”, 26”), suitable for newborn to 7 years with larger sizes given in parentheses. Positive ease of 2” is worked into the pattern. Instructions are also given for adding armhole depth or length. A schematic is also included in the pattern.

GAUGE:
stockinette st 4” x 4” (10cm²) square = 22 sts & 28 rows

YARN:: DK (Double Knitting) yarn. Sample is knit in Sirdar’s Haworth Tweed.
You will need approx 50 (90, 120, 150, 200, 250)g of DK yarn and a small amount (30 - 50g) of a contrast DK yarn for the rib trim and pocket lining.

ADDITIONAL MATERIALS:

tapestry needle
4 stitch markers
