In 1846, Barlow Road was forged as the final segment of the Oregon Trail. This 100 mile stretch was harrowing and rough, but it was also the only passable route through the Cascade Range for covered wagons. Three quarters of the pioneers entering the Willamette Valley traveled down Barlow Road
