A warm, squishy aviator-style hat with knit-as-you-go earflaps formed by short-rows. This is the “At Rest” version with garter ribbed brim and wings curled as if at rest. The stitch pattern is written and charted.

There are three versions in the e-book (Barnstormer, Barnstormer-In Flight, & Barnstormer-At Rest) with each in three sizes (S, M, L).

You can also embellish it further by adding tassels, pom poms, or braids.

This hat was inspired by my Great-Uncle Ole Fahlin who was a barnstormer in the 1920’s. He engineered prototype airplanes and manufactured wooden propellers (as well as wooden skis and snowshoes).

Yardage approx. 195 (215, 225)
