This is a child friendly baseball fanatic inspired by the more famous “Phillie Phanatic.” Yarns are acrylic and the stuffing suggested is non-allergenic. Should you desire this for a baby or toddler, no “fuzz” has been added, simply the shaggy yarns.

Materials:

Red Heart Super Saver Yarns:
Hunter green or Christmas Green Cherry Red
White Periwinkle (light blue)
Honeydew (lt. green) Royal blue
Claret (magenta) Black

3.25 (D) hook
Polyester fiber fill for stuffing
Darning or tapestry needle
Row marker

Rows are numbered. Number in ( ) is number of stitches in that row.
means repeat that sequence

Abbreviations:
MC - Magic Circle
SC - Single Crochet
HDC - half double crochet
2 TOG - next 2 stitches together (decrease)
SLST - slip stitch
CH - chain stitch
ST - stitch
FLO - front loop only
BLO - back loop only
F/O - face off

HINT:
To change colors, put hook through stitch where color changes. Pull through first portion of single crochet, then pull through new color on second half (2 loops on hook) of single crochet. Proceed to next stitch with new color using a SLST. Crochet a few stitches. Cut end of old color leaving about 3 inches of yarn. This can be knotted to new color end. The stitch used to change colors counts as a stitch.
