Basecamp Brimmed Beanie
A classic, easy crochet beanie with a stretchy ribbed brim and a seamless body. The brim is worked first in rows of single crochet in the back loop only, joined into a ring, and then the hat is worked up from there in continuous rounds of double crochet, so there’s no seam running up the back.
Make the longer brim and fold it up for extra warmth, or make the shorter brim and leave it down. Both options are written into every size, and the only thing that changes is the starting chain.
Sizes
Choose your size by head circumference, not by age.
- Preemie: 10-12”
- Newborn: 13-14.5”
- 3-6 Months: 14.5-16.5”
- 6-12 Months: 16.5-18”
- Toddler: 18-19”
- Child: 19-20”
- Teen/Adult Small: 20-21”
- Adult Medium: 21-22.5”
- Adult Large: 23-24”
- Adult X-Large: 24-25”
Preemie and Newborn are written with the unfolded brim, because a doubled brim gets stiff and bulky on a hat that small.
