A quick and cute bandeau top

This is great for beginners as you only need to know how to cast on and off and how to knit and purl. It doesn’t require much yarn either, so makes for a good ‘scrap yarn’ project!

Model is a UK size 12 and wears size M.

Tension square is knitted in stocking stitch using 5mm needles.

This is knitted in with bigger needles to create a stretchy fabric.

The top can stretch up to twice it’s width when lying flat.
Approx. measurements, as the bandeau is lying unstretched, are:
XS: 21cm wide x 15cm high
S: 23.5cm x 12.5cm
M: 26cm x 15cm
L: 28.5cm x 18cm
XL: 31cm x 21cm

I used an acrylic double knitting yarn, so I could wear this sunbathing and easily wash it afterwards. It’s cute as an extra cover up, sun bathing or to wear under lower-cut tops.

The bandeau is knitted on straight needles then the side seams are sewn together and this seam sits in the centre at the back.
