A basic, warm, ribbed beanie, worked in the round. Make some for gifts, or for yourself to brave the cold. It is easy enough for a beginner, and you can even choose to embellish and add a pompom. The pattern can be easily altered to include different stitch patterns, stripes, Fair Isle—the possibilities are endless! The pattern has 2 sizes: one size fits most, and a slightly larger size in parentheses.

You will need about 180-200 yards of worsted weight yarn. The model is knit with Plymouth Encore Worsted in Grayfrost Mix, but it gets very scratchy and I had to add a fleece liner. You may want to use a softer wool or 100% acrylic.

Needles required are US 8 (5mm) in both a circular needle (16”) and 4 double pointed needles. You will also need: stitch marker, darning needle, scissors, and a ruler. You may want additional yarn to add a pom pom.
