The Basic Bulky Mitten and Mitt is intended as a first mitten to knit in the round. You can choose to knit the mitten, or stop where you like to create a mitt. I developed it for a class taught at Moss Brook Fiber Arts.

Skills needed: CO, knit, purl, kfb increase, ssk, k2tog, small circumference in-the-round knitting, and backward loop CO (instructions provided).

Any bulky yarn that can be comfortably knit more tightly than the ball band suggests, at 4 sts per in, is suitable. If this is your first mitten, use a smooth, rather than textured, yarn.
