This is a simple chunky/bulky hat pattern. I wanted a pattern that I could use as a template to design more hats. This is the pattern. I hope you guys like it!

You can switch up the look of this hat in many ways.
-> Add a different coloured brim
-> Use a self stripping yarn for a nice colour change
-> Add faux fur or yarn PomPoms

Note about the yarn:
-> I use Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick because I like it and it’s readily available. But you can use any Bulky (#6) yarn that you love.

Note about the Needles:
->You will need US 13 and US 15 16” circulars as well as US 15 double pointed needles. The DPNs are needed when you’re decreasing for the crown.
-> If you’re making the newborn size, then you will also need US 13 double pointed needles (just to start, after the first 2 rows you can switch to the circulars).
-> I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to use longer circular needles and use the magic loop method. But note that I have not tried using this method so I’m not sure how it will work.

I’d love to see how you finish this hat! Tag me on instagram @mockingbirdknits or use the hashtags #mockingbirdknits and #mockingbirdknitspattern to share your hat!

Happy Knitting :)
