These gloves are very basic with no real shaping but the stitch size changes and thumb treatments give them a little bit of contour They may be made on any single bed machine The design was inspired by a friend who began adding my Fingerless Heart Gloves to the items she knits for her charity work to help homeless people It occurred to me that there are at least as many men in difficult situations as there are women and that simple gloves of this sort would be a great help to them. I asked fellow knitters and found that quite a lot of men use garments like these for various winter jobs that still require dexterity. Iwas also reminded of the day laborers who gather at spots in every city, hoping to be selected for casual labor jobs and realized what a help gloves like these would be for them. With these uses in mind, the pattern is kept simple and fast to knit. Basic bargain yarns work fine For the standard gauge pattern sock yarns are excellent if you can afford them.
