You might see this heel called a “peasant heel” in some patterns (including a few of my own). It’s identical to an Afterthought Heel in terms of how you knit it, but instead of snipping yarn (which honestly is a tough thing to survive--I’ll never get used to CUTTING MY ACTUAL KNITTING), you’ll be knitting in a line of waste yarn where your heel will go. I’ll also introduce a new kind of cuff for you! Not feeling the look of ribbing, or maybe you just hate knitting it? Luckily there are many other options, from mock cables, to folded cuffs, to just plain Stockinette. I’ll show you how to do a folded cuff below.
