A Running on Empty Series - 1 skein knits (inflation buster)
A simple 2-end knitting technique makes the perfect ski hat. It’s wind resistant and soft. If you like making the Basic Twined hat, you’ll love this earflap version!

Update for tight knitters, go up 1 size needle as it appears that knitters tend to twine tighter than normal. Also - should a larger hat be desired, CO an extra 5 sts for the forehead and an extra 3 sts for the back of the head. Earflaps and crowning shaping remain the same. Work hat 1” longer than pattern suggests then begin crown shaping. Note that additional yarn will be required.

Crown Shaping Notefor a smoother crown shaping, work a complete round in between the decrease rounds if you have enough yarn. You may even want to start the crown shaping about an inch early to compensate for the longer crown shaping.
