This hat does double-duty – one side has a basketweave motif, and the other side is awash in waves.

Special thanks to Annie Maloney
Annie Maloney is a magician with cables. She hosts a biennial blanket MKAL, and one of the background stitches in her Starstruck Sampler MKAL was the basketweave stitch used in this pattern. I was intrigued by how lovely the “wrong side” of the stitch was, and Annie generously encouraged me to write up this hat pattern.
