I have always wanted to make a basketweave sweater, but I couldn’t find a pattern I liked, so I made one up myself. This pattern can be easily modified for different sizes or according to your gauge. The basketweave pattern is simple enough to not require too much attention while, say, watching a movie or a hockey game, but it’s just engaging enough not to be mindlessly boring.

I like to work sweaters in the round to save time on seaming, but you can work the front and back flat and join them later if you wish.

I used not quite six skeins of Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Heather Blush to make a size small. I have posted an admittedly-terrible photo of myself wearing the sweater for perspective on size: I am about 5’2” and 110 pounds, and the sweater is fitted without being snug on me. Because I am short, I made the body and sleeves a little shorter than most people would need. Obviously, a much taller person would need to knit the body and sleeves a bit longer.
