I want to Thank Jill & Kiddles for the yarn for these socks and the stunning photos!

Now in every language possible except Universal language (that only does pictures.)

Bastei were inspired by Bastei Bridge on the German-Saxony border. It’s a beautiful bridge that just made my heart sing for this pattern.

This is not a beginner-friendly sock unless you would like to try a new style of sock. It is a Fair Isle on the front and back of the sock, with a slipped cable design. The pattern is sideways so you will either need to print it or be able to read it sideways.

The sock is done in two different sizes of needles and they are US sizes 2 & 4 in a 32” circular needle. You will also need to use either a cable needle or a stitch holder for the slipped cable design.

The gauge for this is 22 sts= 4” or 10 cm. However, the gauge can change depending on if you go down or up a needle size if you are either a loose or tight knitter.

The yarn for this beautiful sock is Jill & Kiddles Fancy Sock base made in Cyborg & Hello Sunshine. It is done in 3 different sizes:

  • Size 1: 57 sts
  • Size 2: 65 sts
  • Size 3: 73 sts

Please enjoy this beautiful sock and please stop by Jill & Kiddles for the kit to these socks! If you do decide to buy the kit, please message me to get a copy of your pattern!
