The Beach Pebbles cowl and hat were born after a trip to the Great Lakes region where I grew up. The hexagon shapes resemble the Petoskey stones that can be collected along the lake shores there.

Skill Level: Advanced beginner.

Finished Circumference: Cowl approx. 24 in 61cm; hat approx. 19.75 (20.75) in 50 (55.5)cm.

Finished Length: Cowl approx. 6 in 15cm; Hat approx. 8 ½ (9 ½) in 23 (25.5)cm.

Yarn: Approximately 150 yds 137m bulky weight yarn for cowl; 140 (175) yds 128m (160m) for hat. Shown in Knitpicks Simply Wool Bulky 193 yd/176.5m per 3.5 oz/100g skein. Cowl shown in colorway Winkle; hat shown in colorway Wilbur.

Gauge: 18.5 sts/ 34 rnds = 4 in 10 cm in charted pattern.

Needles: US #7 4.5mm 16 in40cm and 24 in 60cm circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge. US #7 4.5mm dpns for hat crown.

Notions: stitch marker, tapestry needle.

Notes: Cowl and hat are worked in the round from the bottom up. Instructions for stitch pattern are give in both charted and written form.
