This versatile necklace can be small & casual or a dramatic statement piece depending on your choice of thread and beads (the beads can also be omitted).

This pattern is a comprehensive photo tutorial, 14 pages, 96 photos, 12 MB. You will need a PDF reader such as Adobe Reader or PDF-XChange to view the file.

Materials:
DMC Cebelia crochet thread or other high quality, firm, tightly wound thread, appropriately sized hooks, round seed beads, white glue and fabric glue (or fray check) & toggle clasp.

Size 10 thread, size 11 seed beads & a 1.5mm + 1.75mm hook, focal point will be approx 2.5” to 2.75” wide.

Size 20 thread, size 15 seed beads & a 1.25mm + 1.50mm hook, focal point will be approx 2.25” wide.

Size 30 thread, size 15 seed beads & a 1.00mm + 1.25mm hook, focal point will be approx 2.0” wide.

It is not essential that you use 2 hooks. You can just use the smaller hook and make the stitches loose when it calls for the larger hook. I find using the 2 hooks makes it much easier to get evenly sized stitches.

Optional:
Needle nose tweezers may be very helpful to help position the beads before blocking.

Gauge:
Not essential.

You need the following skills:

  • chain
  • slip stitch
  • single crochet
  • double crochet
  • triple crochet
  • working front loop only
  • working back loop only
  • controlling tension
  • accuracy & attention to detail

This pattern is appropriate for an intermediate to advanced crocheter. More important than a specific experience level is patience and the ability to follow instructions.

Instructions for a 2 thread cord is included. It’s more polished than a regular chain but much easier than i-cord. There is also instruction for attaching a toggle clasp.
