Bear Bakes is a pattern for oven mittens, designed to keep you inspired to bake more of those tasty pies while keeping your hands protected. The paw pads add an extra layer of thickness to already chunky mittens, and there’s also an option to stuff them with some toy stuffing for extra heat protection.
The pattern is easy to follow with written and photo instructions. It makes for a super fun and quick autumn project, suitable for knitters who are transitioning between Beginner and Intermediate levels.

Who says that adults can’t have cute and practical things combined? Bear Bakes will change your mind!

Materials needed:
8mm 15” cable needles (or double pointed needles if preferred), two stitch markers, two stitch holders and a tapestry needle, toy stuffing (optional).

Rowan Big Wool Super Chunky 100g – 2 balls in colour 071 (Stag).
Rowan Creative Focus Worsted 100g – 1 ball in 0500 (Ebony).

Update: Rowan Creative Focus Worsted yarn has sadly been discontinued. Instead, you can use Berroco Ultra Alpaca in 06245 (Pitch Black) or a similar hand-washable, worsted yarn. Another option is to use the same yarn as for the body – Rowan Big Wool Super Chunky in 008 (Black).

Gauge:
Work 11sts x 14 rows with colour 1 for a 4’’ x 4’’ in stockinette stitch using 8mm needles.
