There are 2 ways to knit this beanie:

  • In the round with one color for band and tree section, one color for sky section (optional). This is an intermediate level pattern.
  • Band and top section in the round, intarsia section in short rows. Two colors for band and trees, one color for sky section (optional). This is a more experienced level pattern.

Instructions are given for head sizes 18” (46 cm), 21” (53 cm), and 23” (58 cm). These correspond to child, small adult and medium-large adult sizes.

The beanie is knitted with sport weight yarn. You may use any sport weight yarn, but the yarn used in the hats pictured are:

  • One color, in the round – Ice Yarns Primadonna
  • Three colors, intarsia – Ice Yarns Baby Wool for background, Knit Picks Hawthorne Sport for sky.

Band and background: (20, 26, 39) yds (18, 24, 36) m

The bear is knitted with 25 yds (23 m) fingering weight yarn. It is best knitted with yarn that has at least 50% wool in order to block into shape.
