This soft cuddly bear can be used as a rug in a child’s room or play mat for a baby to lay on and kick their legs. This is a great pattern for a beginner in crochet, but you need to know how to work in the round. With the super chunky yarn, it works up really quick (it only took me two weeks working a few hours each day). The thickness of the yarn also makes the rug more warm and comfy for a little one to sit, or lay, on it on the floor. You can make it bigger or smaller to suit your needs and make it different colours or styles. You could even make it as Santa for Christmas, a pumpkin for halloween or another type of animal.

This pattern is available in UK and US terminology.

The magic (adjustable) ring technique is required for this pattern to work in the round (a photo tutorial is included in the pattern on how to do this). You also need to know how to slip stitch, UK treble crochet/tr or US double crochet/dc and chain.

I hope this brings you creative joy and inspiration. Let’s get yarning!
