Is your desk also always full of those tiny things you don’t know where to put but which are great to have at hand? Paper clips, pencils, notecards, stitch markers, crochet hooks? Well, mine definitely is, and because I wanted a nice place to store them all in, I came up with this basket idea. I wouldn’t be myself, if I didn’t add a cute factor, though, so the basket comes with a cute teddy bear to guard your stuff and help you keep your desk beary organized!

Materials:
- yarn: cotton string or DK yarn to make the string
worsted weight yarn - at least 17-20m (18.5 - 22yd) needs to be wool or other “blockable” fiber, the rest 65 m (71 yd) can be any fiber (but nothing too light and floppy)
I’d advise that you choose two colors of the worsted yarn – one similar to the cotton string, so that they blend well (for the bottom of the basket) and the second one that would go well with the string in the basket stitch (for the “body” of the box).
DK yarn for the bear
brown: 44m/48yd
beige: 7m/7.7yd

  • hook: 3mm for the bear, 3.5mm for the basket
  • stuffing
  • 6 mm safety eyes or 2 black beads
  • sewing needle
  • buttons and/or other embellishments
  • stitch marker (optional)
