English

“When thinking of a respite in the forest or a cabin I think of the comfort of a flannel shirt — that almost worn out, plaid-patterned shirt you’ve had for ages with colours starting to fade.

I wanted to capture that feeling and softness of the pattern in something easier to carry with you on long walks with the trees, animals and weather as sole companions. That inspiration turned into Beaten Track Beanie.”
– Sara Ottosson

The beanie is worked bottom up in mosaic knitting where you only work with one colour at a time. It has a triple-folded brim for extra warmth and the crown uses only one type of decrease. It is worked in the same direction throughout with the same size needles. The brim is worked in three sections: first a patterned one, then in stockinette stitch that in the end is worked together with the cast on edge, and with a final section of 1x1 rib which lies closest to the head for a better fit. For some extra bedazzle the patterned crown is finished with an optional pompom.
