Do you secretly want to live in another era? Are you a dreamy out-of-the-book soul?

“Yes, darling, of course I am! This modern world is terrible!” you said.

I feel your pain and I can help with a solution: grab some knitting needles and some fancy lace yarn and transform your quest for a whimsical world into a beautiful shawl.

Beaux-Arts is the solution for your modern world problems.

Beaux-Arts is a romantic shawl, constructed from top-down with a lace border. The shawl is begun by casting on 5 stitches. Every right side row, two stitches are increased at each side and two in the center, making a shallow triangle with long wings. The border uses a combination of yarn overs, decreases, and nupps, resulting in a glamorous and poetic lace.

Yarn
Approximately 1040 yards (950 meters) of lace weight yarn, 520 yards (475 meters) of main color and 520 yards (475 meters) of contrasting color
Shown here: 2 hanks of Malabrigo Baby Silkpaca (70% baby alpaca, 30% Silk; 420 yards 385 meters / 50 grams). Main color: Pearl (036); and 2 hanks of Malabrigo Baby Silkpaca (70% baby alpaca, 30% Silk; 420 yards 385 meters / 50 grams). Contrasting color: Cuarzo (097).

Gauge
20 sts and 34 rows = 4” (10 cm) in blocked garter stitch with US 4 (3.5 mm) needles
