The Beaver Moon name comes from early North American and Indigenous traditions marking the time when beavers are most active—gathering food and preparing their lodges before winter freezes the waterways. It also signalled the last chance to set beaver traps before the ice formed, ensuring a supply of warm pelts for the cold months ahead. The name reminds us to prepare, protect, and settle in for the darker season—a time to finish projects, find warmth, and honour hard work before rest. The yarn and pattern for the socks were created for Yarn Twisters Sock Club November 2025.
